Youth Activists
Douaa Ahmed
Columbia University
Douaa Ahmed is a driven scholar and aspiring diplomat with a deep commitment to international cooperation, peacebuilding, and refugee advocacy. A senior at New York University, she brings a unique multicultural lens as a Moroccan-Bengali student whose work spans both local and global contexts. Her academic and professional path reflects a sustained focus on diplomacy, governance, and justice.
In 2024, Douaa was selected as a Fulbright-Hays Fellow, conducting advanced field research in Morocco, Greece, and Italy on the intersectionality of climate change, public health crises, and governance failures.
A former student government leader and club president, Douaa is equally committed to grassroots organizing and institutional change. She aspires to begin her career at the United Nations, working in diplomacy and refugee policy to help build a more just and equitable world.
Mohammed Alkurashi
New York University
Mohammed is a senior at New York University majoring in Politics with minors in Peace and Conflict Studies & Computer Science and Mathematics. He previously interned at the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations and trained in the international affairs department of Saudi Post Logistics.
His drive for nuclear disarmament stems from an understanding that the possession of or threat to use such weapons carries grave concerns for fundamental human rights as well as the environment.
Julia Roberto
New York University
Julia is a senior at New York University studying International Relations with minors in French and Peace and Conflict Studies. Originally from Brazil, she has experience in refugee resettlement, international nonprofit work, and policy research.
She is passionate about human rights, decolonization, international development, education access, and advancing global disarmament.
Sofia Dominguez-Trejo
New York University
Sofia Dominguez-Trejo is a sophomore at New York University pursuing a bachelor's degree in International Relations with minors in Peace and Conflict Studies and Middle Eastern Studies on the Pre-law track. She is passionate about understanding the intersection of human rights law, conflict resolution, and U.S. foreign policy and intends to pursue law school.
Sofia is currently the Research Director of the grassroots movement Ma3 Ba3d, where she helps connect the Lebanese and Syrian diaspora to opportunities that allow them to contribute to rebuilding their home countries. She also enjoys writing about contemporary and historical political events, serving as Executive Editor for the MENA section at NYU's IR Insider publication, while also contributing to NYU's Zeitgeist. In previous capacities, she has served as a research intern at the Potomac Institute, the Texas House of Representatives, and Austin's City Hall.
Now at NAPF and RTT, she hopes to understand better the mechanisms needed to secure peaceful and successful diplomacy.
