Docuseries
RTT Canada will be a part of the second docuseries of Reverse the Trend which will bring together Canadian youth to create an online zine composed of various writing pieces focused on the theme “ecology of peace” and the environmental preservation of future generations.

Overcoming the Ecological and Humanitarian Threats of the Nuclear Fuel Trajectory and Nuclear Weapons
A discussion on How policy makers can collaborate with Indigenous and First Nations groups to help move the agenda to disarm states of their nuclear weapons and limit reliance on nuclear energy.

Canada and the Bomb - A Public Seminar on Canada’s Nuclear Security

RTT partnered with ICAN and several other prominent organizations to bring the highly anticipated event “Canada and the Bomb: A Public Seminar on Canada’s Nuclear Security” to Toronto, Ontario! A panel of experts met and exchanged dialogue around the urgent need for nuclear disarmament and the role of Canada in shaping global nuclear policy.

Youth Nuclear Peace Summit

For the fourth annual Youth Nuclear Peace Summit, RTT was excited to continue its partnership with the event and bring its own Canadian youth activists to Winnipeg, Manitoba, to teach and educate! Over 150 students gathered to lead critical discussions on the threats of nuclear weapons use and their intersections.

RTT Canada was honoured to partner with Walk4Peace, where peace walkers across the world gathered in Nova Scotia to walk over 200 km for Disarmament, Decarbonization, & Demilitarization!
Meet the Team

Rooj Ali
Coordinator
Rooj Ali (She/They) is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, studying Peace, Conflict & Justice, and History. She has taken part in various events and projects, including the first-ever Youth Nuclear Peace Summit (YNPS), where she continues to support and engage with the ever-growing youth network the event draws in. Since the launch and creation of Reverse the Trend: Save Our Planet, Save Our People (RTT), Rooj has been a coordinator with the organization and works as a lead mentor in its mentorship program. Rooj is a member of the Canadian Council of Young Feminists and previously held an internship in Senator Marilou McPhedran’s office and attended the Hiroshima G7 Youth Summit as a Canadian delegate. She has attended all three of the meetings of state parties at the United Nations for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and used her attendance to raise engagement from other young people. Rooj co-led Winnipeg’s successful Campaign for the ICAN Cities Appeal in 2021 and went on to author and produce the RTT ICAN Cities Appeal: How to Manual to guide other activists in leading their campaigns from their cities and towns. She was recently awarded the Kim Phúc Award for Youth Peace Leadership by the Voice of Women for Peace, and later joined the organization in part of their 200 km walk for peace.

Sarah Rohleder
Coordinator
Sarah Rohleder is a third year undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia studying history and anthropology. She is a youth coordinator for Reverse the Trend Canada. She was previously an student research intern for Sentaor Marilou McPhedran and is currently a member of her youth advisory council the Canadian Council of Young Feminists and leads its nuclear peace and disarmament group. She has also completed a summer internship with the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War Canada where her project focused on youth education. She was also in attendance for the ICAN Hiroshima G7 Youth Summit, and attended the two meetings of states parties for the TPNW. She had the honour of planning the Youth-Parliament Nuclear Summit in Ottawa as a member of RTT and alongside Senator McPhedran. She is an intern for VOW, and is currently one of the 100 youth worldwide that were selected to participate in the first cohort of the Youth Leader Fund for a World Without Nuclear Weapons that is run by UNODA.

Shilin (Linda) Li
Research Coordinator
Linda (They/She) is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, currently pursuing a double major in Ethics, Society, and Law alongside Sexual Diversity Studies, with a minor in Political Science. A passionate advocate, they are committed to a number of causes, including but not limited to 2SLGBTQI+ advocacy, climate action, and gender equity. Linda has extensive experience in community organizing and leadership, having worked with organizations like the Canadian Council of Feminists, Rainbow Trinity, and the Green Party of Canada. In November 2023, Linda had the honour of being a delegate at the first-ever Youth Parliament Nuclear Summit, held on Parliament Hill. It was there that they decided to take greater action and become more involved and hands-on in this important field. In their role at Reverse the Trend Canada, Linda hopes to be able to meaningfully contribute to a safer, nuclear-free world through critical research initiatives, as well as raise awareness and mobilize youth in the global fight against nuclear disarmament.

Naya Ali
Social Media Coordinator
Naya is a senior in high school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with a strong interest in nuclear disarmament. Her passion for global peace was further ignited after attending the “Rethinking Global Justice & Peace” panel, where she gained valuable insights into international efforts for justice and security. Naya is interested in advocating by using her skills to create social media posts, event planning, and working with other students. She is hoping to major in Criminal Justice and Judicial Studies in September 2025.
